A Science Myth of The Soul

Conclusion

Personally, I believe that our brains and our brain only control our actions and thoughts. “I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms.” Albert Einstein, obituary in New York Times, April 19, 1955.

A Science Myth of The Soul

Evidence

What about the belief in Far East? The Hinduism contains many variant beliefs on the origins, purposes, and fate of the souls. "For the soul there is neither birth nor death at any time. He has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. He is unborn, eternal, ever – existing and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain." (Srila Prabhupada). In Islam, the soul is immortal and eternal. What a person does in this life is recorded and will be judged by God.
But do we really have souls? Scientifically speaking, there have been numerous experiments to test if we, the human have soul or not. Most famous one would be the experiment by Dr. Duncan MacDougall, in 1907. He made weight measurements of patients as they died. He claimed that there was weight loss of varying amounts at the time of death. His results have never been reproduced, and was generally regarded either as meaningless or considered to have had little if any scientific merit. Nonetheless, he measured out of six times in his experiment that whenever a person dies, he or she would lost 21 grams, and he claimed that it is the weight of the soul that departs the body. But he did not take into account that the heart stops working so there is no blood stream movements in a human body as well as the temperature drop could affect greatly the total weight of the body.

Or in Catholic, the soul of every one of us after we passed away will be judged by god, and live an eternity after in Heaven or Hell. There is uncertainty among different branches of Christian that at which point of a human life that he, or she acquired soul, hence the idea that abortion is illegal. There are many different believes in Catholic at who or what create souls, some believes that God creates them. Some believes that the parents do.

A Science Myth of the Soul

Proposal

Does my dog Charlie have soul? Do serial killers and pedophile rapist have soul? Do any of us have soul? What is a soul exactly? Mythologically speaking, soul is what holding our thought, feeling inside our body and it defines the personality of each of us. But isn’t that our brain’s job? Is there really a soul inside each of us? or is it just a makeup term to explain the personality of human before we know that actually it’s the brains that control it.
